Busy executives finding it difficult to carve out time for a close up visit to the ancient monuments can have a quick look around this location, also known as Syntagma Square. Parading before The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier right at the base of the steps of the Parliament Building are the evzones kitted out in their traditional kilts and pom poms. National Historical Museum has Greece’s first constitution and National Gardens offers an escape from city heat from
dawn to dusk. The Numismatic Museum is housed in a glorious structure and it’s all made handy by one of the world’s loveliest metro stations.

Wonderful Greek tavernas are here, there and everywhere (hard to go wrong). Gourmands will be aware that Hytra is the newest Michelin starred restaurant in Athens for 2013, where an outdoor terrace offers front row seats on a Parthenon view in a new address at the Onassis Cultural Centre. A big winner in user-gernerated content, Funky Gourmet hit number 6 position in the top-rated restaurants in all of TripAdvisor’s reviews. The pretty Spondi, a classic since 1996, reaffirmed its two star rating as well as picking up a spot in the Britain’s Diner’s Club international list of Top 100. Great showings all around for Athens.
