In the hospitality world where the internet has replaced traditional travel agents, cruise operators remain heavily reliant on personal relationships with travel agents to fill inventory. Coyle-referred professional evaluators recently called several hundred travel agents within one week. Travel agents were asked a series of questions, and based on guest demographics, budgets, desired itineraries, and other factors, the top cruise line recommendations reported by the evaluators were catalogued and analyzed. Through the study, Coyle was able to determine which lines were actively promoted by travel agents, providing reasons and finding opportunities for clients to increase revenues and market insight.
