There’s nothing like a New Year to focus the mind on achievements and goals you want to accomplish in the coming months. Now is the time to think ahead and take those active steps to achieve those goals. Our own associate, Adam, sets a good example by resolving to “be extra, extra careful” and helping me eliminate stress.
This article, from the Talentbrew Blog, discusses resolutions that perpetuate employee retention for 2010 and include:
- Boosting morale
- Improving communication
- Recognizing and thanking employees
Employee contentment or lack of it often can do more to make or break a business than any other single factor. Good communication is crucial to employee morale and linked with positive self-importance, which results in better productivity. Rewarding hard work creates value and offers thanks for a job well done. We all want to feel good about ourselves and be respected for contributing to business growth. This year each of us will create value through short term and long goals. Businesses should commit to drive employer appeal and help increase motivation and commitment among the workforce by letting employees know that the business cares about their development. After all, in an environment characterized by mounting competitive pressures, those companies that provide clear progression and talent management are viewed as good places to work and are most likely to succeed. Let us all work together in this year of economic recovery and help achieve those self-imposed resolutions for the greater good.
