In a recent interview with Ella Edmondson Bell of the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, the question was raised regarding differences in happiness for men and women in the workplace. The blogger quoted that 84% of women considered leaving their jobs, versus 40% of men.
I am not sure the professor answered the question completely or complicated the issue with other factors such as not feeling the same opportunities exist equally for men and women. In spite of the fact that both genders work for money, emotional rewards go a long way in keeping either gender satisfied. The actual reason for the unhappy statements has not been studied or understood, yet, supposedly we all should be created the same. However, keeping morale high among employees can be of tremendous benefit to any company, as happy workers will be more likely to produce more, take fewer days off, and stay loyal to the company. There are many factors in improving or maintaining high employee satisfaction, which wise employers would do well to implement.
For comic relief, one company created the employee happiness kit. Take a look at this blog and enjoy regardless of your gender.
